Travel Treasures Make Mermaid Dreams

I am inspired by my beach treasures, to create something fun. I just knew that I would find a use for the many little ocean trees and shells my hubby and I collected on our recent trip. Hubby has become quite the shell hunter. See ladies they can be trained for some things. Does anyone know what these little miniature tree looking plants are called? I would love it if someone would leave me a comment and educate me a little.

Of course we had way too many to take back on the airplane. In the past we have shipped things back but this time we were lucky enough to have our sweet friends Paula and Jerry just down the beach with wheels. So they will be bringing our treasures home when they return in a week. Now you know that I didn't go 2 weeks without any of my fabulous finds. I did managed to wriggle a few in the luggage. I just couldn't wait, because that's how I am, way too impatient!

This pic is from a previous post and will be part of a scrap book type thingy, that I am making for my parents 50th anniversary. I am going to write a nice post about it and then print my whole blog (because they don't have internet and never ever see it) and put it in a scrap book type folder thingy.

Another inspiration for my Mermaid Dream catcher is my little mermaid girl and tiara model. Don't you think fur and shells go well together? Fabulous! Tyra Banks (or whoever is the hot model these days) eat your heart out.

And last but certainly not least is my little mermaid's little mermaid. Baby girl Giselle, she is a way cuter model than the famous model Gisele Bundchen ever was. Don't you think? She's so sweet. I know you just want to pinch her cheeks. I'll do it for you.

The Traveling Mermaid

In return of my travels this spring I am reminded of past years and the many trips that I enjoyed with my family. I think that the first hand experience of another city or culture unlike your own is one of the riches gifts that we can give our children. It encourages a sense of wonderment and lust for knowledge. I was fortunate enough as a child to have traveled a bit with my parents and siblings. This bestowed on me the traveling heart that I encompass today. There is so much beauty both far and wide that I have not had the privilege to experience as of yet. But plan to in the future.
When my children were young we did travel a bit but not to the extent that I would have liked. I feel now that it is now my duty to expose my granddaughter and future grandchildren to the curiosities of the world. It is so easy today to hop on a plan to destinations all over the globe. Yes there is the matter of money travel can be quite costly and time consuming. But the planning and research is half the fun. With the gift of internet travel we can extend that trip or experience to last a year or two with the prep and follow up being done on via computer.
In the near future I would like to ask all of you to share your travel memories or secrets in a post with all of us. Sometimes the best way to find out about a cool place to visit is simply from the word of a friend. Stay tuned for updated information and date in a post within the next week or two.

The Mermaid Journal For Diva's

Print, gesso, cut, collage, glue, decoupage, varnish, glue, write, photograph, up-load, list, post.
I'm tired!

Finally it's done and I love it. I would love to take it to Florida but I gotta list it on Etsy. I am all out of journals in my shop. Can I get another one done before the trip? Maybe...
I need to make one for my parents anniversary party the week after I return too.

"Time....Time....Time... see what's become of me"
Sorry I just had to be dramatic for just a minute.

I added a few new links to my sight... Take a look
Have you made your message in a bottle yet? It's fun!

Mermaid Dreams

March keeps marching on and it is almost time for the beach. My flip flops are ready and waiting. I can't wait to feel the sun on my body and the warm breeze across my face. I love the sounds of the tide lapping at my feet. My most favorite part of the whole trip other than the warm sun is the sea treasures I find while walking the beach. I think I will journal about my trip and reflect on the past few wonderful months of my life. I am working on a new journal pictured above. It is a special order for a special customer. I need to put one together for myself. "Mermaid Dreams" sounds like a good title. I just hope that I can let go and relax. I'm a worrier and will be thinking about the kids, the dogs and babygirl left behind.

This starfish tiara was a special order for a girl lucky enough to be getting married on the beach in June. I hope she loves the crown. I am sure she will look beautiful in it. Kellibeth, I hope you have an unforgettable day and beautiful weather.

Well, it is time to go back to laundry and dishes and my mermaid day dreams. Don't forget to visit me at http://www.studiopink.etsy.com/

Princess for a Day

It has been so much fun playing around with the design of some new princess/fairy crowns. My latest design is mermaid inspired with starfish, shells and crystal beads. Baby Girl, my live model, is very expensive but worth it. Every little girl or big girl loves to play princess. The Mermaid Crown will have an optional veil for beach weddings. My next project will be wedding tiara/crowns and flowergirl head bands.
