Magic to her Eyes

Tinkerbell brings magic to a little girls eyes.
This little necklace is one of my new additions to the Studio Pink Shop. Tink is almost 2 inches tall and hangs on an apple green cord with flowered ceramic beads.

What a funky little toy charm. So fun to work with and they make great jewelry pieces. Tink is so sweet and full of charm.

Here is another Kawaii deer. I just love these charms. This one I made into a little bracelet with emerald green crystal beads. The big eyes and sweet little face get me every time.

Confessions of a Virgin Blogger

Don't be shocked I have been itching to bring up this subject for a long time now and I thought, well, no time like the present. I am sure most of you will relate. Do you remember when you first started out with this thought or passion to start a blog? You probably said to yourself "I can do that", "yes I should do that" , and I am sure most of you were just like me and thought....

IF YOU BLOG IT-THEY WILL COME

Remember that? Well, I sure do. I was so excited hands shaking, forehead sweating, mind reeling with thoughts and excitement. How should I start? Where should I begin? Will they like what I have to say? What if I am flooded with responses? What if an Internet stalker takes resident on my page and then wants to meet me? What if?

Well, I could go on all day but you know what I'm getting at. Don't you? Come on, it is confession time:)

Yes, I am somewhat embarrassed to say that this was me on that faithful day. I had so much to say and I just wanted someone to listen.

So I signed up, formatted my page and began to type. For my first post, only a little came out and no pictures. It was titled, Change is Good, Right? I hit publish and then I just sat there and stared at it like I expected something to happen. Maybe I was waiting for the computer to open up, wildly swirling around like a tornado, suck me in, and then there I would be in blog land. No that wasn't really what I was expecting. But I did go back and check it, at least every few hours, just waiting for them to come.
WHEN WERE THEY GONNA COME?

This was so very frustrating to me. I made sure that I had entered my blog in all of the search engines, I made sure to put interesting tags on my posts, and I checked, yes this thing is really on, but still nothing happened. I even did what I swore I was not going to do, because this was going to be a secret that I would tell no one. This blog was going to be just for me to express myself among strangers. NO ONE CAN KNOW that now that I quit my job, I am so bored that I must start a blog.
Well that secret lasted less than a week. Did I ever tell you how impatient I am? Yes I sent a link for my blog to everyone. Former co-workers, girlfriends, family even my husband.
AND STILL NO-ONE CAME.

Do you think I'm slow? Because it took me days, maybe even weeks to figure out that no-one was going to find me on their own and that I had to go out and seek friends, leave comments on other blog sights, join groups, give away things. Oh my, maybe I had a new job. But where was my paycheck going to come from? This posed a new problem if I really wanted to be successful at this blog thing and if I really wanted to avoid having to go back out in that rat race and get a real job I was going to have to find a way to make some money.

Well by now I had read so many bloggs, filled up my favorites list a few times over and discovered that so many of you had on line shops and were selling art and other things.
Once again I thought "I can do that" "Yes I must do that" So I started an Etsy shop "Studio Pink" because of course I love Pink. I am sure you all have guessed the next line...
NO ONE CAME. Well, okay a few came, but they weren't buying. I am sure you all get the picture. I do hope that at least some of you can relate and that I am not really alone in this.

You see I am one of those people with rose colored glasses. The kind that always thinks that everything is okay and all people are kind and everyone really likes me. I prefer to live that way. It's just easier for me. I don't have the desire or energy to be mad or angry all the time.

Well, to rap this thing up and to get to what I really wanted to say (I forgot to tell you that I have a problem getting to the point) is that, it really is, quite wonderful in blog land the people really are kind, things are okay and I think that they kinda like me.

No I am not yet flooded with responses and no my stuff on Etsy isn't flying off the shelves but I do have the best job in the world. Blogging, making stuff for my shop, and best of all taking care of my granddaughter. Yes, I am still waiting for a pay check ( I know my husband is) but I really do look forward to every day and yes I still check the computer quite often to see if anyone has responded to my posts or if anyone has bought my stuff, but at least now, I am realistic and can only smile when I look at the comments counter with a big fat 0 in front.

Thank you to my fellow bloggers for listening to me ramble on and for making my new job, although unpaid, an enjoyable one.

Charming New Item in the Shop

I just love, love this little Kawaii Deer. I bought 3 of these charms (pink, blue, green) to make jewelry with. This little charm bracelet is the first pc. I've finished and listed in my etsy shop. I used chunky purple boho beads and pink swarovski-like crystals. It makes a wonderfully funky pc.
Look at those eyes. Doesn't she look like she has a secret that she is just itching to share? These little Kawaii charms are so full of expression and so perfectly done. They incorporate 3 of my fav things; big eyes, little deer/fawn, and pink of course!

The Budding New Artist

Meet the lovely new artist, Baby Girl, she has completed her first painting, just shy of 5 months old. It is titled "A Splash of Spring".
Here she is showing off her finished piece. What wonderful use of color. Don't you think? It is all most as beautiful as she is. Well, not quite.

She is putting on the finishing touches. As you can see Baby Girl has more paint on herself than on the canvas. It was hard work and after this session there was a bath and a much needed nap.

This is the beginning of her painting session. Notice the clean outfit. She had a great time with the paint. Her great-grandparents are the lucky owners of this masterpiece. It is framed and hangs in their living room. I'm jealous aren't you?

Show and Tell Sunday

Girls just gotta have their bling. Cameos are a girls best friend. Well, I don't think that is quite how it goes. But there is something so special about the cameo. I wish for a vintage cameo carved from shell. Maybe someday.
Here are my four fav pieces that I have collected from garage and tag sales. I love the pink piece because the stones are so unique and of course I love pink. The crown because I love crowns and tiaras. The leaf looking pc because the vintage crystals look like real swarovski and are so big and beautiful. The oriental pc because it is so unusual.

Here is the close up of the oriental pc, it looks like a samurai or Buddhist figures praying in front of a Buddhist temple. It so gorgeous and made from a mother of pearl. I don't really know much about it but I would like to. It looks very old. If anyone knows something or has any ideas, please leave me a comment.

This pc is near and dear to my heart because it was my grandmothers. It is beautiful and looks like 18k gold. I love the dainty little gems and cameo. I guess this is how I became so obsessed with old jewelry. My grandmother had many pieces on her dresser and I always admired them. I wish I would have kept some after she passed but I was young and not of that mind yet.

This is my first show and tell Sunday and I think it is a wonderful idea. I love to share my passions (obsessions). I started collecting vintage jewelry a few years back. I just love the look of old jewelry. In this pic it shows an oriental bowl on my dressing table full of bling.

The ring in the top right corner is huge and quite interesting and yes I have worn it on occasion just for fun. I sometimes wear my fabulous finds and then other times I use them in different projects. One year after a huge collecting spree I invited my girl friends over and we made jeweled frames. It was a blast.

This is a close up is of some of the jewels on my 18 by 20 inch mirror that hangs above my bed. It was hard to photograph way up there and well lets just say it needs a bit of dusting. I have used a few pieces on some of my items for sale in my Studio Pink store on Etsy

I used little cherub figures in the corner. It is a bit over the top but I still love it. I had so much fun over the years collecting various pieces, some of which just set in a bowl or on my dressing table. The most fun is the hunt or collecting. I can get very competitive just ask my sister and niece. We all love to collect and it is always a race to see who finds the jewelry table first when we go junking.

Pick up some bling today. You'll love it.

Thank You to Little Pink Studio for hosting this week's Show and Tell. To see a participant list go to http://www.littlepinkstudio.typepad.com/ and check it out.

Thank for your thoughtfulness

I can't thank all of you enough for the thoughtful comments you made in reguard to my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. It so comforting to know that there are so many people with such kindness to share. I know that all of your kind expressions will be treasured by my family forever.

A Blogger's Thoughts

They are trapped within the catacombs,

floating, fleeting, nagging, and always inspiring,

sometimes wishful, sometimes haunting,

but always insightful,

they contain our memories and future greatness,

all trapped within a beautiful mind.

-Mya Anthony

Thank you for sharing yours.

I thought you might enjoy the pic of my beautiful little Nadia (remember beauty is within) taking comforts in her favorite man's arms.

Happy Anniversary P.S. I Love You

This post is a tribute to my wonderful parents and their 50th wedding anniversary. It sounds like the same old cliche to say that I couldn't have asked for better parents, so I won't say that. I could have asked for better parents but they would not have been found, because I don't believe I could have two better people to be my parents. I am so proud of them and honored that they have chosen to stay together for all these years. They have made our family the special unit that it is today and made us (their children) the adults we are today. It is because of the love and support, that they showed each other and their children, that made myself and my siblings into doting parents and committed spouses. Please help me wish them a Happy Anniversary by leaving a little note at the end of this post.
I would like to end this post with my favorite family quote.
"Other things may change us, but we start and end with family".
