A Taste of Summer

Summer is my favorite time of the year. The earth is warm, the birds are singing, my garden is growing, and the aroma of hot off the grill is every where. There isn't much about summer that I don't like and my likes far out way my dislikes. This salmon dish above looks fabulous!

There is nothing better than sand between your toes and the sound of the surf in your ear. I enjoy the sun on my back and the wash at my feet. This picture is a mini vacation for my mind. Go ahead journey through your mind; its free!

Now I would bet that this is the taste of summer that most of you are thinking about. What a perfect treat; a little chocolate, a little strawberry, a waffle cone, and a handful of berries to finish it off. Beautiful eye candy for the palate. Yum!

A little shot of my grand-princess enjoying her baby pool on the 4th of July. Notice she is appropriately dressed in a red, white, and blue bikini. What else would a princess wear on Independence Day?

Love, Love these little Lillys in my garden. They open in the morning light and then close back up at dusk. The petals are so interesting with lines and spots in colors that work so well together. So delicate, but yet they present such a grand splash of color. Perfect!

I wanted to leave you with one of my favorite summer sights; rambling rose vines that cling to a fence with a mind of there own. I came across this sight in front of a house that was a complete disaster with junk thrown about every where. These climbing roses need no help, they take hold and flourish despite their surroundings.

Garden Party and Pink Saturday

Welcome to my Garden Party and
Pink Saturday.
Our wonderful hostess for the party in the garden is Cielo
from The House in Roses.
Visit her beautiful blog to link up with all of the gorgeous gardens.
To check out the blogs in the pink today go see the beautiful Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.

This was my beautiful rose before the little woodland animals helped themselves to the delicious little treats of my garden. I took this shot right after a rain storm. My roses were gorgeous and their fragrance was spicy sweet.

I hope you will take a moment to smell the flowers as you wander through the beautiful gardens today. Love this little gnome. I found he and his brother years ago in a little antique store. Don't you just love his chippy paint.

Here is another shot of my beautiful roses before the feast. The whole bush was massacred just a few hours after this shot.

For Pink Saturday I would like to use the beautiful new wallpaper that Karen from Cider Antiques helped me with. Click on her name and it will take you to a her "Colours for You" sight.
She is such a sweet heart.
Thank you so much Karen.
I love it!

This is my beautiful urn just spilling over with color. The cherub was part of a fountain at one time but now he is the crown of my garden. In the fall his bowl holds bird seed for my feathered friends.

Just a little close up of the pale pink blooms cascading down the urn. I love the faded look of the petals. In the sunlight they are almost transparent.

A few yummys on the vine. Still green but soon they will be red and juicy sweet. Yum! I just have to make sure that I get them before the deer or coons. I swear they just wait outside the fence for flowers to bloom and fruit to ripen. Then a nightly feast takes place and by morning we are cleaned out.

This is a semi dry river bed. I say semi because during heavy rains or a spring thaw it sometimes flows just like a permanent stream. We needed to come up with something because at times the water would wash out the lawn. Most of the year it remains dry. We tried to keep it as natural looking as possible to fit in with all of the nature around us. Woods to the east, meadow and pond to the north.

One of my miniature rose bushes just starting to bud out.
Nature really does put the art in living doesn't it? Pink roses and peonies and white lilies are my fav flowers. Pink flowers are sweet and white flowers are just elegant.

Clementas are such a wonderful vine and this purple is just gorgeous. I love the ruffly edges and vanilla center.

A side view of this beautiful vine in the morning light. The buds are so fuzzy and soft. Then they open into the beautiful flower above.

My little angel bird bath. This gorgeous angel sits on the edge of a giant clam shell. Love her innocence.

As you can tell I love garden statues. This angels peeks out from behind the tall grasses.

These day lilies are so bright and happy. The only lilies in the garden that the deer don't eat.

Everybody needs a pair of colorful garden shoes. Not the right size but I had to buy them. They were just too cute! I keep them on my porch. They bring a smile to my face when ever I pass by.

Well here is the little darling that ate my roses. I was calling it Deer Boy. I was sure it was a boy by the way it had no appreciation for the beauty of my garden. But I saw her today with the tiniest babe following close behind. I guess I can forgive her maybe it was a pregnant craving.
I now call her Rose. I guess the fawn should be Rosebud.

Thank you for spending time in my garden.

Come back anytime.

XO-Mya

Spring Spruce Up

The colors of spring are here and it's time for a little sprucing up around the house and yard. I love this time of year. Everything seems so young and fresh. It makes you just want to renew everything. Pink Hydrangea are one of my favorite spring flowers. I put this one in a turquoise pot and displayed it on my dining room table.
It is still a little early in Michigan for flowers but the statuary can come out and play. Many of my garden statues have taken a beating over the last few winters (thawing and freezing) even in the shed, and will have to be replaced.

I did add a few Pansy flowers and wonderful green moss around the front of the house. Just a little touch of color here and there. I so love moss. I love everything about it. The color, the soft velvety texture and the quiet it adds to the forest.

This basket of pots needed something. So I added a spring dream catcher to it. I hope it will capture a little spring magic.

I couldn't forget my little feathered friends. This little birdie cottage is a Country French style home.. The birds here in Michigan are very savvy and have a wonderful chic style to their decorating, despite the economy.
Well, I just wanted to add a little color to your day. I can't wait until the weather here in Michigan is a little more stable and allows us to plant more flowers and add a real splash of color to the yard.

Happy Spring :)

Can You Feel It?

I lost my favorite picture today. I lost my muse. I need to touch down on a warm spring day.

Ahh spring, new life, fresh start, warm and bright. I need to see something spring, black soil, green shoots, new blooms. It's all right, it's on its way. In my mind I am walking in the sun, on the beach, the breeze is blowing softly across my face, the water is gently rolling in and lapping at my feet. I bend over and pick up the most beautiful shell, I marvel at it, put it in my pocket. A treasures from the sea. I am walking through the meadow with wild flowers bursting in full color at my feet. Into the woods I go though the moss covered trees. They are alive with new life nesting. Yes this is spring. I can feel it coming. My desires are not only wishes. I found my favorite picture, I found my muse, but I am still dreaming of spring. I feel like a new soul reaching out into the light. My roots firmly planted and my shoots are beginning to break ground reaching up to the sun. Warm on my face. Can you feel it? Bottle it up and share it with the ones you love.
