Show and Tell Sunday "Fabulous Flea Market Find"

Happy Father's Day

Welcome to Show and Tell Sunday for my fabulous flea market find. We have a new hostess for this week Heidi from "Birds of a Feather" who was sweet enough to take on the job. Click on her link to visit the other show and tell fabulous finds.

The dreamy cabinet above is my fav fabulous find of all time. I found this piece while traveling with my mom and sis on one of our junk trips. It has a tag inside the door that says hand painted by artist Brett Gregory, Pierceton In. I think I paid around $30 dollars for it. Can you believe it? I couldn't load it fast enough. Sorry sis I beat you to it.

We traveled across US 12 from the east to the west side of the state for Michigan's Longest Garage Sale. Follow the PureMichigan link to find out more info on this year's 212 mile long sale. It was quite an adventure down US 12 and we made a few stops but passed by a lot too . We passed a few women pulling Uhauls to carry all of their treasures. At the end of our journey we stayed in NewBuffalo Michigan and enjoyed their Ship to Shore Festival. The festival hosted a great line up of musical acts, sidewalk sales and a fantastic boat parade. New Buffalo is a hip little town on the shore of lake Michigan and it is a second home to many Chicago residents. Check it out via the New Buffalo link above.
What a great trip!

I have used the image on this cabinet many times for various projects. I love the colors and the soft focus finish. It is great storage for my extra junk and my 2 little finches are housed on top of this beauty.

Thank you for letting me show and tell today.
Check back tomorrow for another Day in the Life.

Sunday Show and Tell "Trash to Treasure"

Welcome to Show and Tell Sunday. Todays fun topic is trash to treasure. Our hostess this week is the talented Analise of Sugar*Sugar Take this link to her blog to link up with the other featured treasures.
My first piece is a framed box that I actually learned to make while watching HGTV Trash To Treasure. It is constructed of 6 old picture frames. They are all identical. You wouldn't have to have matching frames as long as they were the same size and thickness. You really need thick wooden frames for this project. Take the frames apart and glue each glass panel inplace, then glue 5 frames into a box shape, leaving the top open. The frame on top is your lid. Attach 4 knobs for feet and one for a handle to remove the lid.

Here is a peek down through the lid to all my treasures. I glued a vintage brooch to the knob on the lid. What a fun piece to make.

This next piece is a mirror embellished with vintage jewelry and an angel. A of couple years back I collected enough jewels to have a little bling party. Several of my friends came with a frame or mirror in hand and we whipped out the hot glue gun and bejeweled them. There was a lot of creativity, wine, and blisters from the hot glue. Definitely a night to remember.
This frame was just one of my fabulous finds that I have no idea what I am going to do with but I just had to have it.
It has a funny but embarrassing story to it.
My Mom, sis and I were junk saling and I spied this at the same time a man (stranger to me) saw it.
I said to him, "do you want to race for it?" He got a funny look on his face and laughed then he said, "no my wife won't let me have it anyway." After my purchase we piled into the car and my mother said, "now that wasn't very nice I can't believe you said that to him." "I said why" and she said, "didn't you notice that he had a wooden leg?" oopsy!

I love this frame, flaws and all. I stained a few spots and gold leafed the tips but other wise I just left it alone chippy paint and all.

My giant bunny is treasure to me but he was trash to someone else. Picked him up for a song because of his chippy paint and rusty ears. To me he is just perfect in his shabby chic condition.

After this you will know just how crazy I really am. I talked my girlfriend's hubby into talking back buckets of our beach sand after one of our seaside trips. We were flying and he was driving. He is so sweet that he didn't ask questions. He just loaded it up and brought it to Michigan. I wasn't sure why I needed it but I have found several uses. In this project I used the beachy sand to cast molds for my plaster cherub heads. They came out with a crushed shell and sand finish on their faces. LOve it! Thanks Jerry.

I am a crazy collector. I don't collect anything too normal, mostly odd things. This is a pic of my table that I made out of pottery shards that I collected from the Atlantic Ocean. The shards mostly came from my travels to New Bruinswick Canada and Maine. Love the book and the shells too.

This is a snipit of my huge barn made out of old salvage. I didn't make it. A local artist did. It is made of so many wonderful materials and so, so unique.

This little gem is made from what I think is an old mother of pearl belt buckle, old tat from a vintage hat, vintage silk ribbon and an angel/cherub button. All things that a picked up on my treasure hunts. It makes a romantic little necklace.
My last trash soon to be treasure is an old cupboard that is in poor condition except the doors are perfect. They are all chippy paint with a look of rustic elegance. My Fav! I am thinking of taking the doors and making tables out of them by putting the matching doors together either hinge side in the middle or latch in the middle. I will leave them rustic and just add a sealer.
Or do you fabulous girls have any better ideas for me?
Let me know.
Thank you for joining me for Show and Tell.
Love, love you all.

Show and Tell Sunday "Is It Storage or Clutter?" You Decide

It's that time again... Show and Tell Sunday
Our hostess today is the beautiful Cerri from LittlePinkStudio drop by her place to link up with the other Show and Tell fun.
Today's topic is where we store our treasures or supplies.
Did we really have to go there? Very Scary!
As you will see I am a use what you have kinda girl.

I just wanted to say that luckily no one was hurt in the making of this post. You know falling closet debris in all.

Gotta love my Shabby Chic baskets. They are wonderful for storing almost anything. I keep them in the Grand Princess/guest room they fit in perfect with the decor. My only room that Mr. Mya let me go a little shabby chic with. The princess was my excuse.

I fell madly in love with this cabinet from the moment I saw it at a garage sale. I ran to it and almost tripped my sister on the way. Sorry sis but I'm younger and faster :) It is hand painted and so cottage chic. LOve it!
No I won't show you inside this cupboard. Something could fall out and injure you.

Here is a jar full of vintage jewelry and pieces/parts. I really love old jars with lids for storing my odds and ends. It helps to be able to see things since they aren't perfectly organized and labeled.

This iron dress form started out as a spot to hold my Marie Antoinette princess crown but after that sold , it has kind of collected a variety of projects. She sits in the corner of my studio. My studio walls are a very deep red maple but I would love to go soft pink. Hummm, That would require a few coats of paint and a furniture change.

This oriental hope chest sits in my hallway and holds a few odds and ends. On top of the chest is my books on sea glass and pottery shards.
I collect both and the urn holds some of my shell and shard collection.

This jar trio is a little cottage series with birds and cherubs. Perfect for more little pieces/parts. They are standing on top of a wooden basket.
I would love to have a wall of open shelves to house everything in plain sight. In stead of trying to remember where I stored what.

My table in the studio, filled with a few completed projects and a couple in progress. The table is covered with pottery shards that I collected while traveling in New Brunswick's Bay Of Fundy. Very awesome place to travel and collect pottery and glass from the sea. The surface isn't even and I grouted in a few cup handles too. It was a fun project that took me a few weeks to complete.

This is what lays beneath the table. A big blue trunk and a couple boxes and clay head. Did I mention that I use what I have for storage?
No fancy shelving unit here.

My parents made me a peg rack a few years ago. I usually change it with the seasons but right now it is stuffed with items from the my Etsy shop.
Someday I will get organized, I promise.

Warning Warning... Watch out for falling debris.
I can't believe I was brave enough to show you my flower closet.
Very Scary!
I think I will take a peek at your space for a little inspiration.
If you have any organizational tips leave them here.

Thanks for stopping by the studio. Have a fabulous Sunday.
XO-Mya

Show and tell Sunday "China Heaven"

Show and tell Sunday Once again. Today we show off our favorite dishes. Love, Love my dish collection. I have so many but I choose to show off only a few. It was a little difficult carting the dishes and the Grand Princess out to the garden for our photo shoot.

Thank you Analise for hosting show and tell today. Be sure to pay her blog, Sugar Sugar a visit.

I love all of the wonderful details you find, top to bottom on vintage dishes. My little sprite looks pretty happy in the garden on this beautiful sunny day.

We're set for a little tea party among the trees.
All we need is a princess.
I love to set a table or bench, in this case,
with beautiful white dishes, white linens and candle light.
There is nothing more elegant.

The perfect little spot to sit for tea, a good book or a little bird watching.
I couldn't ask for a better spot except a little less poison ivy. Thought I might see the princess over here.

I so love this cup. It is so detailed and dainty. It makes you want to hold out your pinkie with tea. I learned, recently at tea party that I attended, that it was actually considered bad manners to hold out your pinkie in Victorian times. Who Knew?

The roses on these shabby chic dishes has to be my fav. Creamy white background with pink roses and gold trim. Perfect!

This blue bird covered dish is one of my favorite garage sale finds.
The colors are so soft and beautiful and I love blue birds.

I have had it for 3 years but have not used it for serving food. I just keep it filled with dried roses from the garden.

Here is another shot of my favorite tea cup and little rose plates. The plates are the perfect size for a chocolate cupcake or lemon scone. Yumm!

Took a quick shot of my Stangl tea pot, sugar bowl and my very cute owl creamer. So sweet and all from the 50's.

Another quickie taken of my grandma's electric tea pot (still works) and a couple sugar bowls. The sugar bowl to the front is part of my Blue Ridge hand painted pottery collection that I didn't photograph.

What would a china collection be without a little Blue Willow. I love it but this is my only piece. It is a beautiful platter in perfect condition.
I can't believe that I have collected only one piece of these old beauties.

Oops, here is another pic of this gorgeous tea cup and saucer. Can you tell it is one of my favorites? Love it!

These tea cups and saucers are my favorite Stangl pieces. The colors speak to me. They are not your dainty little English tea sets. Stangl ware has a chunky feel to it. The finish is so soft and creamy.
I think it screams romantic home.

I love to add shells and vintage brooches with fine china, to my table scape's. The lighting through the trees really does make an elegant shot.

This spot looks like the perfect place for a princess.
Don't you think?
I know, I know this was supposed to be about my china collection but everything, including my photo shoots, just seems to turn into art or a story.

Ahh, There is my little Grand Princess. What would a tea party be without a princess? She is so yummy sweet and the best piece in my collection ;)
Love her!

Thank you for stopping by today.
I am wishing you all a very safe and beautiful holiday weekend.

XO-Mya

Show and Tell Sunday "The Princess and her Linens"

Welcome to Show and Tell Sunday our hostess is

Cerri From Little Pink Studio please stop by and check out the other blogs with Vintage Linens to share. http://www.littlepinkstudio.typepad.com/

This post will include a few vintage linens. I don't have many so we will have a little fun with this one.

It all started with a princess who was very, very picky. She was trying to find some vintage linens that were just right. She searched high and low and came across just a very few to try out.

The first one was some pink lace that was long and kind of clingy so she put it on her head and pretended that she was a pirate's first mate. It looked okay but didn't quite do the trick.

Next she found an old quilt made by her great-great grandmother. It was beautiful, felt good, and was put together quite nicely. But she wasn't sure because there wasn't a lot of Pink in the quilt and you know that all princesses love Pink.

Then she came across a crochet piece that was very nicely done by her great grandmother. She put on her sun bonnet so that she could look very closely at the workmanship without the bother of the afternoon sun. She liked this piece too.

Now she started to get very confused and decided to take a little break and read some of her favorite magazines. (Romantic Homes and House Beautiful, of course) the poor thing doesn't she look just exhausted? This was a lot of work for such a little princess.

(My daughter and Grand baby Princess)

Well, after looking so hard and trying to make a decision, she decided to lay down for a nap. During her long nap she decided that it didn't really matter what linens she used because the place that she felt the most comfortable was right beside mommy :)

Thank you for visiting me today. I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
Leave me a message if you can.

-Mya
