A day in the Life; waif girl

As she lay in bed waiting for sleep, she felt it. It started in her chest and went deep into her bones. She clenched her fists and tossed back and forth while images of him played over and over in her head. Sleep finally came as the gripping pain released her body.

When Tally woke it was dark and rainy. The kind of day you would rather close the shades and just sleep. This wasn't possible today, it was important that she make an effort. She dressed and did the best she could to make herself presentable. As she looked in the mirror she couldn't help but hear that old cliche running through her head, "this is the first day of the rest of your life".
Tally glanced down at her old worn out shoes on the cold floor. How she wished she had something better but she was alone now, for the first time in her life and new shoes were not an option. Maybe no one would notice how badly they were worn.
As Tally stepped through the door it dawned on her that the rain had stopped. Off in the distance her eyes met the most beautiful rainbow, stretched across the sky.

Just a little story telling to add some drama to your monday.
